Antique French Sterling Silver Dish Plate,Doutre-Roussel

his exquisite sterling silver plate has a wide, exquisitely designed border, or “
marli
”, with a motif of stylized leaves on a
guillochis
background ringed by an edge of beading. The bottom bears the French “
Minerve
Premier
Titre
” hallmark, indicating the highest quality of French sterling silver (950/1000), used in Paris since 1838. It also bears the maker’s mark consisting of the initials “D.” and “R.” above a domino with a double-two and the word “Paris” surrounded by two stars, the mark of
Claude
Doutre-Roussel
, master silversmith in Paris, located from 1895 in the
rue
Vieille
-du-Temple
in the
Marais
district of Paris. This piece is in very good condition with the exception of faint scratches due to great age and normal use. Please refer to the detailed photos on this page. This very elegant plate will be a prestigious addition to your table setting or your collection.
