A Majapahit bronze of the Anak Raja, or son of the king. Images of the Anak Raja were popular during the Majapahit era and there are known other examples in bronze, as well as in gold, silver and terracotta. This bronze comes from central Java and dates from the 15th century of the Majapahit Dynasty. The Anak Raja is always rendered as a fat and happy little guy adorned with arm and ankle bracelets, belt and necklace. He is also always adorned with several bells all over his body which would help to keep track of his whereabouts. Some variations have him bald with just a tuft of hair on the top of his head, like this one. The statue is solid cast "lost wax" method and measures 5-3/8" high.
