WW1 Bitish Tunnel Rescue Helmet Siebe Gorman

WW1 British Tunnel mine rescue helmet by Siebe Gorman .This helmet is the only one I have seen with markings and there are very few that have survived at all.  The markings in white are the WD and RE for Royal Engineers as they were responsible for the mining work and two broad arrows for in and out of military service. The helmet is in very good condition for the use it has been through, only the neck leather protection has some missing and some replaced. The helmet has the original fire proof paint and front windows still open. The leather helmet has the name plate in place and these helmets resembles the German pickelhube with the top vent. There is one in the imperial war museum.
